Get started with the Operations module
From decades of experience, we can say with confidence that your management will need to be adapted and changed as the organisation and the world around it change. The best way to learn HOW to work in this module is to jump in early and try it out. In addition to this document, there is also a manual written for this module that describes how we have envisioned the flow. The examples below are for those who do not yet have a set routine for exactly how they want to work in the module. If you already have a routine, the simplest approach is to test that routine, and feel free to take inspiration from the examples below.
You can also find more information about the module on this page in the Knowledge Base: Incidents

Example
Preparation – 30-60 min
- Set a clear purpose and goal, and share it in the invitation.
- Suggestion:
- Purpose: We will get to know the new tool and explore how we should use it.
- Goal: We will have reached a first proposal for a routine for how the tool should be used.
- Invite a crisis management group: regular members only, no substitutes.
- Better small and simple now while you explore the way forward.
- Create a scenario together with a representative of the group. Base it on something relevant for you to test, and add organisation-specific information to connect the event even more closely to your organisation.
- Print or have the manual for the management module ready to hand out during the session.
You can find the manual here: Manual - Operations Module
Implementation – 1-2 h
- Explain how the exercise is meant to be carried out, and stress that this is an exploratory journey you take together, not a test of their ability.
- Go through the whole platform to create an overview.
- Go through the scenario and, if you like, hand out the text (facts).
- Follow the manual for the module, where the flow is presented: Facts -> Status (how the event affects us) -> Assumptions (which developments do we foresee) -> Goals -> Communicative target picture -> Actions (how we reach the goals).
- Guide the participants through the flow step by step and let them work in the situation picture.
- Your job is to push your colleagues forward so they do not get stuck in details, and to keep to the time.
- Round off by summarising what you have done.
Evaluation
- Let everyone who wants share their thoughts on the session.
- Consider whether this was a good routine:
- What was good?
- What could be better?
- Was anything missing?
Follow-up
- Go through the evaluation and identify what you can do right away to get better immediately.
