Intro

Why should you take this introduction?

When something happens, it's important to quickly understand what needs to be done, where information is available, and how to reach the right people. This introduction gives you an overview of how MyMurphy can support your work during an incident.

After the introduction, you should know what you can do in the platform's most important operational parts: Communication and Calling, Crisis and Incident Management, and the Event Module. You don't need to know everything in detail right away, but you should recognize the functions and understand how the platform can help you and your organization when it's really needed.

1. Download the mobile app and watch the introductory video

Before you start watching the film below, download the mobile app.
You log in to it the same way you log in to the web and you can find the app here:

  • Download for Android
    • If you have an Android, you should also read more under Communication and the call module, which you will find further down.
  • Download for iOS

The video below gives you an overview of the operational modules in the platform and shows what the platform can help you with in practice.
If you don't see all the modules shown in the movie, it could be for a couple of reasons that you can read about in this article: Module permissions - How to get access to more (opens in new tab)

After the introduction, you should know:

  • what you can do in the Alert module
  • what you can do in the Operations module
  • what you can do in the Incident module
  • how MyMurphy can support coordination, communication and structure when something happens
  • where to find more support when you want to delve deeper into how you do things in practice

2. Choose what you want to delve into

In order to be able to do a number of important things in the platform, you need to practice. Below are effective and simple exercises that you can do between 5-15 minutes. You can do these a day or so after you have watched the video above to extend your learning.

Tip! If you are going to do the exercises at a later time, you can already book the practice time in your calendar, so that you know it will happen.

Why should you do the exercises below?

When something happens, it's important to be able to communicate quickly, gather information, and contribute to a shared situational picture. These exercises will help you practice some of the most important elements in MyMurphy, so that you recognize them and can use them when needed.

After the exercises, you should be able to send a two-way message, follow up on responses, open a situational picture, and document information through actions and statuses. The goal is for you to feel more confident in the platform and understand how your work in MyMurphy can help others gain insight, make decisions, and take the next step.

Communication and summons

Exercise - Send a two-way message

Two-way message

Practice sending a two-way message via email and app notification by sending it to yourself.
IMPORTANT! Even if you are only sending an email and a note to yourself, it is recommended that you write “EXERCISE” in the subject, message and question. This is because all mailings are logged, and by writing “exercise” it is easy for others to see if the mailing is an exercise.

Reply to the message and check under “Sent invitations” to see how your response is logged.

Crisis and Incident Management

Exercise - Open a new situational picture and document the action and status

The target group for this part is you who are users and who have a role in crisis management/staff.
As a logger/superuser, there are more tasks below to practice and master in the platform.

Contributing your part of the situational picture makes it easier for others in the crisis management/staff to get an overview and for everyone to be informed about what is happening. It also gives those who will lead through the crisis better conditions to understand and make decisions about the next steps. Understanding how to write actions and statuses is therefore crucial for you to be able to complete your task. The focus of this exercise is that you should be able to create new actions and statuses and know how to edit them. You need to get an internal review of WHAT exactly you should write and HOW your methodology looks like, if you haven't had it yet.

  1. Start with the first part below to open a situation image - set it as “Exercise” and name it appropriately.
  2. Then go into the status screen you created and create new actions and statuses.
    1. If necessary, you can use the manual that you will find further down in this text.
